Brown Aluminium Oxide, commonly referred to as Brown Fused Alumina (BFA) or simply Brown Aluminium Oxide, is synthesized by fusing high-purity bauxite (often with small amounts of silica, coke, and iron filings) in an electric arc furnace at temperatures above 2,000 °C . The result is a hard, dense, angular crystalline abrasive predominantly composed of α‑Al₂O₃, with aluminium oxide content typically ranging from 94–97 %
